These Terms govern use of Promise, a service operated by Virtual Beehive Inc. (“Promise,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
Please read this boundary: Promise helps people record and follow through on personal commitments. It does not create or enforce legal contracts, guarantee conduct or payment, hold money, provide escrow or collateral, collect debt, determine creditworthiness, or judge a person’s character.
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to agree to these Terms. Provide accurate registration information, keep your login secure, and promptly update your contact information. You are responsible for activity under your account. We cannot guarantee that every person maintains only one account.
A private promise is visible to its creator, may be self-reported as kept or not kept, and never affects the Accountability Score. For a shared promise, the recipient must review and accept the complete terms. Only the recipient may initially report the outcome. If a permitted review is requested, the recipient’s second decision is final within the app. Promise records are informational and do not replace independent documentation or professional advice.
The Accountability Score is a transparent in-app indicator calculated from eligible accepted shared promises with final recipient-confirmed outcomes. Private, pending, cancelled, and unresolved disputed promises are excluded. Scores and heart ratings may be incomplete, mistaken, manipulated, or affected by limited data. They are not credit, legal, employment, housing, insurance, identity-verification, or general risk scores and must not be used for those purposes.
You retain ownership of content you submit. You give Promise a limited license to host, process, display, and transmit that content only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the service and address reports. You must have the right to submit the content and must not upload government IDs, passwords, payment-card information, unlawful material, intimate content without consent, malware, or content that violates another person’s rights. Evidence is not independently verified by Promise.
Do not use Promise to harass, threaten, shame, defraud, impersonate, discriminate, manipulate scores or ratings, evade suspensions, conduct unlawful activity, interfere with the service, scrape information, or test security without written permission. Do not use Promise for escrow, collateral, debt collection, wagering, or a guarantee that money will be paid. We may investigate reports and restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts to protect users and the service.
The current release does not display third-party advertising. Promise Plus is offered at $1.00 per month or $10.00 per year and includes advanced reminders, the Connections leaderboard, one outcome re-review request, and other features shown before purchase. Core private and shared promises, secure invitations, recipient outcome reports, ratings, and the Accountability Score remain available without a subscription.
Subscriptions are purchased through Google Play or Apple and renew automatically unless cancelled through the applicable store before renewal. Billing, taxes, trials, cancellation, and refunds are governed by the applicable store terms and law. Deleting the Promise app or account does not automatically cancel a store subscription; cancellation must also be completed through the store.
Notifications are informational and may be delayed or unavailable. Do not rely on Promise for emergencies, legal deadlines, safety-critical obligations, or guaranteed delivery. The service uses third-party platforms for hosting, authentication, notifications, analytics, subscriptions, and potentially advertising. Their terms may also apply.
Promise’s software, branding, design, and service content—excluding user content—are owned by Virtual Beehive Inc. or its licensors. These Terms provide a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the app for its intended purpose.
You may delete your account using the in-app control. Deletion is permanent and cannot be recovered, subject to limited retention described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access for violations, security risk, legal requirements, or discontinuation of the service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations—continue to apply.
To the extent permitted by law, Promise is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, the accuracy of user statements, evidence, scores, ratings, reminders, or outcomes, or that another person will keep a promise. To the extent permitted by law, Virtual Beehive Inc. is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Before filing a claim, please contact us and allow a reasonable opportunity to resolve the concern informally. These Terms do not require arbitration and do not waive rights that cannot legally be waived.
We may update these Terms as the service changes. Material changes will be communicated through the app or another appropriate method. Continued use after the effective date of updated Terms means you accept them, where permitted by law.
